Europe’s South has long been the epicenter of the continent’s culinary scene. Italian food is the most popular cuisine worldwide, while Spanish, Turkish and Greek also count amongst the world’s most popular cuisines. Add to the mix some fabulous Portuguese, Croatian and Balkan food.
The cuisine of Southern Europe is often labeled as Mediterranean food, although dishes from other non-European countries along the Mediterranean coast such as Lebanon fit the description as well.
Southern Europe has also produced some incredible sweet treats and desserts: Italian gelato, crema catalana and fantastic Turkish and Greek desserts.
