Bouyourdi: Spicy Baked Feta with Tomatoes and Peppers
Ingredients
- 1 Florina pepper (or red bell pepper) cut into thin strips
- 1 green hot-pepper sliced
- 1 tomato sliced
- 1 tsp crushed red pepper
- 250 g feta cheese crumbled
- dried oregano
- salt
- pepper
- extra virgin olive oil for drizzling
To serve (optional):
- pita bread
Instructions
- Preheat the oven over 210 °C/410°F, with top-bottom heat.
- Pour some olive oil in a clay pot, spread some peppers in the pot, top with tomato slices and add some salt.
- Then, sprinkle on the feta cheese, some dried oregano, the crushed red pepper and some olive oil.
- Repeat the process with another layer of ingredients in the same order.
- Cook the bouyourdi in the oven for 10–15 minutes, until the feta is soft and lightly golden.
- Serve the bouyourdi hot, along with fresh pita bread. Enjoy!
