The 12 Most Expensive Michelin-Starred Restaurants in London

Over the past couple of decades, London’s reputation as a center of gastronomic excellence has shot through the roof. The city now boasts five 3 Michelin-starred restaurants (including two led by female chefs), 10 boasting two stars, and an incredible 56 with a single star (so they’ll be fighting to get up to that next level).

But with so many options, how can you be sure you’ll make the right choice? In this article, we look at the most expensive restaurants in London. To this end, we analyzed the menus of all Michelin-starred restaurants in London to see which restaurants boast the highest prices.

Each ranked restaurant combines an iconic location with a stunningly elegant dining room and, most importantly, those highly-prized Michelin stars that guarantee a fabulous menu and an unforgettable dining experience.

1. Kitchen Table

Top-price tasting menu: £300 per person ($357 USD)
Address: 70 Charlotte St., London W1T 4QG

If you’re hoping for a quiet evening, with plenty of opportunity for undisturbed, intimate conversation, Chef James Knappettt’s 2-Michelin-starred Kitchen Table‘s Tasting Menu (£300 or roughly $357 per person, excluding drinks and service) is not perhaps the best choice.

The clue is in the name. You’ll be seated at a horseshoe-shaped counter and treated to a full-on dining experience, where “previously unseen kitchen theater” will be as much of an attraction as the food.

The modern British menu changes daily and focuses on the best and freshest locally-sourced produce.

2. Restaurant Gordon Ramsey

Top-price tasting menu: £220 per person ($262 USD)
Address: 68 Royal Hospital Rd, London SW3 4HP

Undisputed global superstar of the restaurant business Gordon Ramsey’s flagship, in the stylish district of Chelsea, has long held the accolade of 3 Michelin stars. Don’t expect to find Gordon in the kitchen, though; since 2015 the team has been led by Chef de Cuisine Matt Abé.

The Carte Blanche menu, at £220 per person ($262 USD), allows him to create a bespoke menu for you, focusing on the highest quality ingredients prepared in a Modern French style. The vegetarian menu (‘Prestige’) is also available at £170 per person.

3. Dinner by Heston Blumenthal

Top-price tasting menu: £220 per person ($262 USD)
Address: 66 Knightsbridge, London SW1X 7LA

Once considered the enfant terrible of the British restaurant scene, there’s no doubt that Heston Blumenthal remains an innovator and one of the best chefs in the world. As he’s perhaps best known for esoteric creations such as snail porridge, ice cream pork pies, and edible cutlery, expect a visit to Dinner, at the Mandarin Oriental, Hyde Park to be a memorable experience.

This center of culinary innovation has held 2 Michelin stars since 2013. The 8-course Chef’s Table menu for four to six people, at £220 ($275) per person, has reinvented dishes inspired by creations going as far back as the 13th century. As Heston explains, philosophically:

‘The only difference between history and the present day is that history was in the past.’

What more do you need to know? Reservations recommended.

4. Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester

Top-price tasting menu: £210 per person ($250 USD)
Address: Park Lane, London W1K 1QA

Legendary Chef Alain Ducasse is respected and admired by many of his peers and rivals – not only for his culinary creations but also for the way he has nurtured and developed a whole generation of today’s top chefs.

In his 3 Michelin-starred London eaterie in the Dorchester Hotel, the team is led by Executive Chef Jean-Philippe Blondet. Here, he reinterprets Alain Ducasse’s approach with a contemporary and refined menu, based on the finest seasonal produce from the best British and French producers. The phenomenal 7-course Tasting Menu is priced at £210 or roughly $250 per person.

In the words of the great man himself: “A produce, grown with love and respect has an incomparable flavor. Without it, a chef is nothing.”

5. Core by Clare Smyth

Top-price tasting menu: £205 per person ($244 USD)
Address: 92 Kensington Park Road, London, W11 2PN

Since opening Core just five years ago, Clare has been named the ‘World’s Best Female Chef’ by the World’s 50 Best Restaurants. She stands out among her peers, both male and female, for the incredible reputation she’s already earned. Notting Hill-based Core by Care Smyth boasts an incredible array of top accolades, including the coveted 3 Michelin stars (2021).

The classic 7-course Tasting menu costs £205 per person ($244 USD).

6. A Wong

Top-price tasting menu: £200 per person ($238 USD)
Address: 70 Wilton Rd, Pimlico, London SW1V 1DE

Andrew Wong, inspired by his father’s Victoria restaurant as well as his travels around China in a quest to uncover the authentic regional culinary traditions, opened his eponymous restaurant in 2013.

The atmosphere is quite informal, considering there is such a serious approach to the food, so be ready to take your time while savoring the £200 Tasting menu – block out at least 3 hours to enjoy this intriguing mix of 2-star Michelin standards and incredible Chinese dishes.

7.  Hélène Darroze at The Connaught

Top-price tasting menu: £195 per person ($232 USD)

Created by Hélène Darroze herself, the 7-course Taste of Summer menu, at £195 per person, perfectly expresses the creativity and standards that have earned the restaurant 3 Michelin stars.

8. Claude Bosi at Bibendum

Top-price tasting menu: £195 per person ($232 USD)

Claude Bosi at 2-Michelin-starred Bibendum is located in one of London’s most iconic buildings. Situated on the first floor of Michelin House, with the incredible stained glass window of the world-famous Michelin Man, it’s the perfect setting for a special occasion.

The menu, created by Head Chef Francesco, follows Claude Bosi’s inspiration and uses the finest seasonal ingredients, lovingly prepared. The 8-course ‘Our Classics’ menu is offered at £195 per person.

9.  Da Terra

Top-price tasting menu: £185 per person ($220 USD)
Address: 8 Patriot Square, London E2 9NF, UK

A good taxi ride away from the grand Mayfair locations of many of London’s finest, Da Terra is based in the heart of East London’s up and coming, achingly trendy Bethnal Green district. Since opening in 2019, this elegant yet relaxed restaurant has earned 2-Michelin-star status, an incredible feat.

The two Tasting Menus combine the flavors of Chef Rafael Cagali’s Brazilian roots and Italian influences. You won’t be presented with a menu, you’ll be guided by the chefs. Allow at least 3 hours to savor the experience, which will cost in the region of £185 per person (excluding drinks).

10. Story

Top-price tasting menu: £185 per person ($220 USD)
Address: 199 Tooley St, London SE1 2JX

And another one where they won’t offer you a menu. Story’s 10-course Tasting Menu (or Vegetarian Tasting Menu) includes their classic dishes as well as seasonally inspired creations. Chef Tom Sellers gained his first Michelin star in 2013, just five months after opening, and was awarded his second star in 2021.

11. Ikoyi

Top-price tasting menu: £185 per person ($220 USD)
Address: 1 St. James’s Market, London, SW1Y 4AH

Getting bored with the typical ‘Modern French and British’ cuisine beloved of the Michelin inspectors? Then try 2-Michelin-starred Ikoyi, in St James, just off busy Regent Street, which was founded by friends Iré Hassan-Odukale and Chef Jeremy Chan.

They combine bold heat and umami to wake up your jaded palette with an explosion of ground, fermented, burnt and pickled spices typical of sub-Saharan West Africa.

The original 13-course tasting Menu is £185 per person.

12. Le Gavroche

Top-price tasting menu: £180 per person ($215 USD)
Address: 43 Upper Brook Street, London W1K 7QR

This shrine to classic French cuisine in the heart of Mayfair is a London institution that’s been attracting foodie pilgrims and A-list celebrities since 1967. Founded by the legendary Roux brothers, it has provided a training ground for more than 30 Michelin starred chefs: Gordon Ramsay, Marco Pierre White, and Monica Galetti to name just three.

The 7-course Menu Exceptionnel at £180 features all the French classics you’d expect, served in an elegant dining room by staff who regard service as an art form.

Notable mention: The Fat Duck, Bray | up to £350 per person

Located in Bray, Berkshire, just outside London, The Fat Duck is led by Chef Heston Blumenthal and first opened its doors in 1995. The restaurant is well-known for its 14-course tasting menu, which includes dishes like nitro-scrambled egg and bacon ice cream, and an Alice in Wonderland-inspired mock turtle soup.

The Fat Duck is one of Europe’s 10 most expensive restaurants.
