“Mabuhay Nights” – Celebrating Filipino Cuisine in Sydney
To honor Philippines Independence Day, a national holiday in the Philippines commemorating the independence of the archipelago from Spain, you are invited to a bespoke pop up dinner series at Sizzling Filo, one of Sydney’s best Filipino restaurants.
Filipino Food Movement Australia, an NGO that promotes Filipino cuisine, is organizing the event dubbed Mabuhay Nights. The NGO was formed by Filipino-Australians who are passionate about their culinary heritage and want to bring Filipino food into the mainstream.
Filipino food is incredibly delicious and it is highly diverse as it is influenced by Indian, Chinese, Malay and Spanish cuisines.
According to a press release issued by Filipino Food Movement Australia, the dining series will showcase the variety and distinctiveness of Filipino food and culture.
The dining experience will consist of six courses and will be headed by Chef Nina Cruz of Sizzling Fillo and guest Head Chef Pierre Marie Lucente of Chicago Jones. The dishes will celebrate Filipino flavors using seasonal, local Australian produce.
This is the second event – the inaugural pop-up series took place at Sydney’s Cebu Lechon. You can learn more about the inaugural event by listening to this informative interview on SBS Radio.
