The Agrarian Kitchen Cooking School & Farm
An innovative concept, The Agrarian Kitchen Cooking School & Farm offers paddock-to-plate cooking experiences, being Tasmania’s first hands-on, farm-based cooking school. The working farm is residence to pigs, chicken, goats, geese and honeybees. Heirloom varieties of fruit and vegetables are grown here using organic principles. All these farm-products, as well as other ingredients from local farms, are used in the cooking classes.
The classes are hands-on, 1-day or 2-day experiences that can really take place best on a farm of all places: charcuterie, cutting and using entire hog, preparing sausages, smoking meat and cooking with fir, to name a few. All classes involving vegetables start with foraging for the ingredients in the farm’s garden, and classes teaching the secrets of Sourdough, cheesemaking, Udon noodles, fermentation and truffles really round up the offer.
