Academy Canada
Situated in the historic province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Academy Canada offers a variety of cooking programs students can sign up for. One program available is Cook (Pre-Employment). This 32-week course requires culinary students to attend classes such as Food Safety, Vegetables and Fungi, Poultry, Cook Math Fundamentals, Breakfast Cookery and Eggs, and Principles of Meat Cooking and Handling. At the end of the program, students will enter a two-week apprenticeship where they will then be able to earn the Red Seal Certificate. The other culinary arts program offered at Academy Canada is Baker. This program runs for 34 weeks and will teach future bakers how to make bread, pastries, and cakes. All classes are overseen by a professional chef who will guide students in their studies and give them helpful tips they can use for their future careers. Tuition for this academy ranges depending on the courses taken, but each course costs about $325.
