Best Free 9 Websites to Find Clipart Images of a Chef’s Hat
When you haven’t yet defined how you primary character needs to look – or you want to post an article, blog or recipe without adding a face to the content, sometimes a traditional symbol is all you need to communicate the key message. And when it comes to foodie content, what better symbol is there than a Chef’s hat?
Dating all the way back to the 16th century, the Chef’s hat is one of those age old uniforms which has withstood the test of time, and despite many variations in style and colour, has always retained the same generic format and overall look.
How, then, do we capture the unique essence of our writing with a simple clipart image which is so overused across the food industry?
This piece depicts our hunt for free clipart images of Chef’s hat, across some of the leading free clipart sites on the internet right now.
Clipart Library
A quick search for ‘chefs hat’ on Clipart Library provided a good selection of chef hat images – both on their own and perched on a chef’s head! Something that was good to see on this site was the wide variety of style available even with something as simple as a hat, including the one-dimensional flat cartoon style hats, through to 3D realistic illustrations and a whole host of different outline and block colours.
This site and its 44 results prove that shading and shadows can take a hat from flat to 3D, and it was good to have such a wide range of choices available that would suit any content type.
All the results on this site are fine for personal use but limited in commercial use, so just be sure you are aware of the regulations before you start downloading – but on the plus side the images are totally free and you can download as many as you want!
Clipart Me
Clipart Me provides both free and premium images – with one important feature. You can easily filter out the free ones from the paid results, with just one click of a button. This is a great feature which makes the site easy for anyone to use, and ensures that those looking for free results will not get caught up in a trail of subscriptions and memberships.
Interestingly a search for ‘chefs hat’ actually seems to search the word as a whole and the individual words themselves too – meaning our 351 search results are interspersed with random hats and vector images depicting all manner of different Chef’s.
If you can get past this however, the results themselves are very thorough and provide a good variety of simple cartoons and more elaborate hand drawn illustrations, though all created with a computer. The results box is surrounded by advertising from premium sites such as iStock, so it is worth noting that clicking on any of those will take you to a subscription site – something to be cautious of.
Clipground
Clipground works on the basis that for every search, you get access to 10 free clipart images for download and use as you choose. The site operates with the most basic layout, and the easiest way we found to get the results we wanted was actually to google ‘Clipground chefs hat images’ – leading us to a selection of 10 different results. The results themselves ranged from a basic outline of a hat to a fully shaded 3D interpretation; ensuring that for every 10 results there is a good selection of styles available.
Pixabay
One of the easiest free clipart sites to use, Pixabay works by filtering the search results down into those which are free, and those which require a login. A search for ‘chefs hat’ brought back 39 free vector images, and 90 illustrations – with quite a large crossover between many of the search results. Nonetheless, the results we did get provided a good selection of styles and finishes, from fully coloured in scenic images, to basic chef’s hat outlines.
It was interesting to see that a large number of our results featured full chef’s wearing their hats, although we cannot argue with the logic – after all, the image does feature a chefs hat, and that is what we asked for! In short, Pixabay is by far one of the most reliable sites for free images and provides all the information you could need on regulations, usage and download size.
FreePik
With both a paid for and a free subscription available, FreePik is ideal for one-off and more regular users; boasting a total of 432 free vector images when we searched for ‘chefs hat’. While ticking the free licence box allows only free images to be displayed, it is worth noting that any free downloads which you use much be attributed back to the site – although for such a wide selection of images, this seems like a fair deal.
In terms of the quality of our search and the results, FreePik cannot really be faulted. With no obvious preference for cartoons or more realistic illustration style images, the site includes a real selection of finishes which would suit most users, even showcasing the different styles of Chef’s hat as they have been worn through the ages.
Clipart 1001
A basic site designed for those who want to print off outlines and different images, Clipart 1001 provides a surprisingly thorough range of chef’s hats – from static outline images to 3D illustrations complete with shading and colour. Upon clicking on a result of your choosing, the two main options from the site are to download or to send straight to print, making it super easy to save the file where you want it for future use.
The site does say that the images are the property of the artist and are for personal use only, meaning they can’t be used commercially, but for such a basic site with a good selection of results this is to be expected.
Vecteezy
One of the easiest clipart sites to navigate and use, Vecteezy makes your hunt for free clipart easy from the very first step, allowing search results to be filtered by licence requirements – free or professional. Once we narrowed our search down to free images only, a search for ‘chef hat’ still left us with over 6,000 results which covered all possible design and style requirements – from colourful vibrant images through to realistic 3D scenes, basic outlines, and all manner of Chef’s hat designs.
With a search like this, it was good to see that Vecteezy not only provided us with abstract images but also with logo style designs, ways to incorporate a chef’s hat into a fuller image, and even templates and outlines for content styles, for example use on a menu. Many of the results also incorporate more than one style into a single download, with a cross section of different images all saved onto one sheet – providing users with a simple and quick way to gain more than one stylistic finish, as part of a single download.
Clipart Station
A basic site with a really nice search function which brings your search term up in the middle of the screen, Clipart Station provided us with a concise but varied range of results – most easy and free to download, with just a few covered in a watermarking. The thing we liked about this site in particular was the range of images on a white background alongside those on a transparent background, making it super easy for users to identify which image would best sit on their piece of work according to its background colour – a feature often overlooked until it is too late.
Downloading the chosen image was as simple as opening it in full then right clicking it to save, ensuring a really streamlined approach for the user. Meanwhile the actual results themselves covered everything we could ask for – and for once without any interruption for random other types of hat or chefs. All the results were limited to Chef Hats alone which was great to see.
BrowserGameita
Perhaps the best thing about this site is the completely obvious way in which it displays each search result in relation to its ideal use – from transparent backgrounds to simple jpegs, background graphics and HD download. For the novice user, this allows them to determine which image will best fit their requirements in terms of space, size and layout – creating a good user experience for them.
