Chutney

Chutney is a condiment as well as a preserving method of fruit and/or vegetables. Chutneys can be made with dried or fresh produce and are preserved by adding vinegar, salt, sugar and spices during a slow cooking process. The finished product is then stored in sterilized, sealed chars for maturing and storage. Fruits or vegetables in season are always the tastiest but also the cheapest on the market and it is best to use the best possible produce at the height of its ripeness when making chutney. Chutney originated in eastern India and it’s name is derived from the Hindu word “Chatni".
