Chocolate Fondue

A.K.A Dessert Fondue Chocolate fondue refers to warm melted chocolate, sometimes flavored with honey, croquant or flavoring syrups such as caramel, coffee or similar, in which fresh or dried fruits, marshmallows, cookies or small pieces of cake and sponge are dipped into. Often sprinkles or chopped nuts are served separately in order to “dress up” the chocolate-coated ingredients after dipping with the warm chocolate. Small servings of liquors or brandies may be prepared on the side, to lightly flavour sponge or cake pieces before coating the item with the warm chocolate. Chocolate fondues have been popular for quite some time, but can be quite a challenge if prepared at home due to the heat sensitivity of the chocolate. With the introduction of chocolate fountains, now available almost everywhere, the melted chocolate is kept at a steady temperature and therefore will not burn or boil and stay smooth at all times.
