Sineguela
A.K.A Spanish plum Sineguelas are small, olive shaped green to dark purple green a tree fruits, with a soft skin a large hard seed and, when fully ripe, soft, sweet and juicy flesh. The tree originated in Middle and South America and was brought to the Philippines by the Spaniards. Sineguelas take their name from the Spanish word “Ciruela” or plum and therefore are sometimes referred to as Spanish plums. The fruit should only be eaten when fully ripe, as semi ripe fruit can cause an upset stomach. Originally used as and folk remedy for dysentery, diarrhea and even to remove stains from cloths, the fruits is widely eaten but does has never enjoyed the popularity of mango and other "prime tropical fruits. They are often used for pickling and in the production of sweets.
